ABOUT

I trained for this.
I also lived it.

I'm Jeanne. I coach girls aged 14 to 18 on decision-making and self-trust, working between Zurich and Athens.

I'm certified by the International Coaching Federation, the global body that sets professional standards for coaching. That means accredited training, supervised practice, examinations, and a code of ethics with an independent complaints procedure I don't control. Before this I studied law, then psychology at graduate level.

I work only with this age group. Narrow on purpose, because it's a specific problem and it needs someone who has thought about it for a long time, and lived it.

WHAT I THINK THE PROBLEM IS

It isn't a mental health problem. It's a skill nobody teaches.

Girls are handed more input than any generation before them and less practice at sorting it. Not just social media, though that's most of it. Also well-meaning adults with a version of her in mind, and friends who knew her at twelve, and the ambient sense that there's a correct way to be a person and she's probably getting it wrong.

None of it arrives as instruction. It settles. And by the time she's making decisions that set a direction, she can't tell which part of her opinion is hers.

I think that's a skill nobody teaches, at the age when it would matter most.

HOW I WORK

Mostly I ask questions.

The kind that open up an angle she hadn't considered, or turn over something she'd stopped looking at.

Sometimes I make an observation and put it to her to see what she makes of it. She's free to agree or disagree, and either way it's a clue about what the real issue is underneath and what her gut is already telling her about it.

She arrives at the answer herself, because that's the only version that builds anything.

I'm not her parent, I'm not her teacher, and I'm not grading her. Nothing she says gets repeated.

WHY THIS AND NOT SOMETHING ELSE

I made every significant decision of my late teens without knowing myself.

Carefully, with good information about everything except myself. It took until my mid-twenties to notice.

That isn't my qualification. The training is. But it's why I know first-hand how it feels, and why I wish someone had been helping me with this at fifteen.
